Overview

In January 2012, the United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) awarded the Multimodal Transportation and Infrastructure Consortium (MTIC) Tier I University Transportation Center status. One of ten such institutions, MTIC received funding through a competitive grant solicitation to help solve existing transportation challenges and to further develop the capacity to address future needs through applied intermodal research and advanced technology. MTIC includes the Rahall Transportation Institute (RTI) at Marshall University, the Kentucky Transportation Center (KTC) at the University of Kentucky, the Center for Transportation Innovation and Logistics and Distribution Institute at the University of Louisville, and the Eastern Seaboard Intermodal Transportation Application Center at Hampton University.
